Bookshop
located inside the house and subject to house opening times.
Car park
During wet weather the grass overflow has to close and cars park on hard standing. We then usually need several days of warm weather to dry the overflow out before reopening it.
Cycle parking
Cycle parking is located by the catering shed close to the visitor welcome building.
Dogs allowed
On a short lead, not allowed in house, servery, first floor of tearoom or the play area. In walled garden, must be on short lead and on main path as we grow food. Allowed in ground-floor seating area of the tea-room. With min two people in your group, one can sit with the dog while the other orders. Assistance dogs welcome across the site.

one block near to visitor reception, another by the tearoom.
Please be aware of deep water by the main bridge. Paths in the grounds are uneven at times. Woodland paths are difficult to navigate due to tree roots. Accessible toilets are located at the tea-room which is 1,200m from the car park.

Steps/uneven terrain
Access to first floor in the house is via a staircase only and this has no handrail. In the woods the paths have tree roots coming across them in places and can get very muddy.

Cycle parking is located by the catering shed close to the visitor welcome building.

The Vyne is located less than a mile off National Cycle Network Route 23 that travels between Reading 17.5miles and Basingstoke 8.1miles and then onto Winchester and the South Coast. It is a relatively flat route along stretches of traffic-free path and largely quiet rural lanes. From Basingstoke The Vyne is 8.1miles (13km) if you follow the National Cycle Network route 23 signs or 17.5miles (28km) from Reading.

By road
Four miles north of Basingstoke between Bramley and Sherborne St John. Entrance to visitor car park is on Morgaston Road. what3words: pizzeria.person.gone
Parking: Parking is free. There is a 1/3 mile walk between visitor reception and the house. Blue badge parking is available. All parking is on hard standing.
Sat Nav: Will not take you to the main car park, instead follow National Trust brown signs and reach the visitor car park off Morgaston Road.
By train
Basingstoke 4 miles - taxi rank available outside of train station. Bramley 2½ miles - requires a walk of 2½ miles from this station. Note: Vyne Road has no foot paths.

Upcoming events at The Vyne

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt comes to The Vyne from 16 May to 28 June, 10am-4pm. From 25 June to 1 November, house-wide exhibition 'Taste, Design and the Georgian Gentleman' sheds light on Georgian owner John Chute's artistic influence on the house and its interiors. In addition, biweekly 'Taste Through Time' Tours will explore the stylistic evolution of the house over the centuries. Tours: Suggested donation £5 per person. On select dates, bring your camping chairs, picnics and blankets to the north lawn and enjoy outdoor theatre and cinema. Tickets still available. Families can enjoy a Summer of Play 23 July - 13 September. Browse all events here.
